The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, have examined the project aimed at rehabilitating the road Babadjou Bamenda at Friday December 12 during the road project review, mainly for jointly financed projects.
The rehabilitation of the Babadjou-Bamenda road falls within the development project for the transport sectors with the principal objective of facilitating access. And even though the work zone is coated as a difficult one, BUN’s have recorded a high rate of physical advancement on the field for the 4 different lots. To date, the lot 1 + 4b is 67% done as it goes from Babadjou to Matazem on 17km. Lot 2 is subdivided into 2 sections, that is Babadjou-Welcome to Bamenda (18km) and its advancement is recorded at 93% done. The second section is the by-pass road stretched on 4.930km which is almost completed. Currently on lot 3, the earthworks are finished and the enterprise is working on the sub base of the road made up of aggregate 0.31,5. The production works are completely done here. Lot 4b is linking Amour Mézam-Agence voyage amour mezam junction-vetenery jonction – Hospital Round about-Foud market-City Chemist round about- Vetenary (6.5km) and registers the less rate, due to certain difficulties reported by the enterprise.
Globally, the overall difficulties reported is related to the lockdowns in the zone, heavy rain fall and the significant increased in price of primarily construction materials.
In order to find a solution to these constraints, the project owner have recommended to the enterprise to multiply the prefabrication center and also submit an elaborated strategy in a retro planning schedule. Strategy which should essentially aimed at resolving problems faced on the field.
