Work is currently going on intensively on the Kumba-Ekondo-Titi road construction project, 60 km long, after instructions were issued by hierarchy for the work to be executed without any dateline.
This follows comes after the video conference coordinated by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, with his closed collaborators and construction companies (Force Account). MINTP instructed the construction company workers to mobilize themselves on the field in order to obtain an increase evaluation of the level of works done on the Kumba-Ekondo-TITI road stretch. In respect to the instruction of the Minister of Public Works, during the video conference, the result from control missions indicates that, the stretch at Mbonge junction PK0+000-PK 55+000 has recorded remarkable advancement of works.
Works executed on site includes the laying of foundation layers with thickness of 25cm, had been attended, there is also the crushing of gravel 0/31, 5 that has been completed. Concerning the hydraulic structures, rectangular ditches of 50x50 and the reinforced concrete triangular ditches (120x60) have been done, but from PK0+000 to 00+930 which still have ditches on both sides. In addition, treatment of critical points have been done. These operations will not only ensure the comfort of the road users, but also bring the durability of the road. The recycler is also operational as materials which are key for the emulsion have been supplied, and the teams of the company are assisted by the control mission which ensures monitoring of the works. As of now the road is in circulation from Mbonge junction PK0+000-ekondo TITI free for all type of vehicles.
The execution works by Force Account for the construction of the National Road N0 16: Kumba-Ekondo-TITI road stretch of 60 km estimated cost at 40 609 372 000 FCFA all taxes included.
Some difficulties encountered during the smooth running of these project includes the transportation of gravel and bituminous binder from Ekona to Kumba about 60 km, the starting of the rainy season that has reduced the effectiveness of works, and the insecurity in the zone. In other to overcome these challenges the executing agency is expected to facilitate the process of planting a quarry at small Nganjo and sand pit at Mbonge Marumba. They should stock adequate materials to maintain circulation during the heavy rains.
The construction of hydraulic structures is very important at the disruption points of circulation between Kwakwa to small Nganjo of 20 km distance.
