The rehabilitation through direct labour of the 42km Mboukok (Ekater)-Singuain-Mbeta road section, including the access of Missasem, the construction of a permanent bridge over the Mboukok River, and the rehabilitation of the permanent bridge over the Keum River at pk 5+297, phase 1, in Nguti Sub-Division, Kupe Muanenguba Muanenguba DivisionDivision, Southwest Region. As at 24 September 2024, a decision No: 268/D/MINTP/CAB issued for the rehabilitation of 42km stretch through direct labour. Carried out by the Divisional Delegate of Public Works, accompanied by all the members of the project team, carried out a technical acceptance visit. This was prior to the provisional acceptance of the said projects.
The acceptance of the above-cited works executed through direct labour have been executed and received technically on 25 April 2025, with all the justifications completed.
During the technical acceptance, the project team observed that the following works have been completed in phase 1such as the construction of the 10-meter-span permanent reinforced concrete bridge over the Mboukok River; reopening of the road from Mboukok to Singuain; Opening of the 2-km road from Singuain to Missasem;
Grading and molding of the road from Mboukok to Singuain (10 km); Creation of gutters; Cleaning of some culverts; Removal of landslide
It should be notes that the construction of the 10-meter-span permanent reinforced concrete bridge over the Mboukok River bridge was transformed from stone masonry to reinforced concrete because of the poor bearing capacity of the soil.
It is also important to note here that the road will need serious filling with selected material to be sustainable. Equally, drainage structures like stone masonry gutters and the construction of two box culverts will also be needed. The bridge over the Keum River at PK 5+297 will require the construction of a reinforced concrete permanent bridge, contrary to the rehabilitation initially previewed.
