As concerned the construction of the Bridge over River Wouri in the Littoral region, the project owner requests immediate termination of the contract. In fact, the rehabilitation of the old bridge over the River Wouri in the Littoral region seems like an abandoned contract.


The project concern a four-year contract awarded to a construction company: GUINA-CAM/GUINA-CHAD Group;, is a nightmare.
This was revealed today August 02, 2025, during a three-day road project review organized by the Minister of Public Works, in the presence of stakeholders involved in the field of infrastructure. Progress to date stands at 46.5%; for a contract that has been attributed since four years ago, the length of the concrete bridge is 720m, intermediate bearings completed, 16 spans of 45 m, 15 piles, and 2 abutments have not been done, the road right-of-way has been cleared. This project is financed through the MINTP Public Investment Budget from 2019 till the completion of the project but as of now the construction company has not effectively done its work
According to the norms of the contract, the global cost of the project is estimated at  3,200,516,812 FCFA including tax. The kickoff of  work previewed on 08/26/2020; to be delivered in March 2024, Time consumption is 144.16%, which shows an indication that the time limit expired since March 3, 2025

In addition, the contract was suspended since September 24, 2024, the termination note sent to the DAJ  on August 22, 2925, another issue is the Non-payment of statements No. 5 and 6 of the group of companies, a noticed of termination of contract was retransmitted on August 22, 2025, to the contractor, and a new construction company was mobilized to complete the work.
        The rainy season was an excuse tabled by the contractor, justifying their delay in the execution of the project. 
Besides the excuses tabled before the Minister of Public Works, it was revealed that a new construction company is also seeking to carry on work effectively on the site. Besides the slowdown caused by the pending payment of its invoices. The Project Owner has had no other alternative than to withdraw the contract and order a quick termination of the contract GUINA-CAM/GUINA-CHAD.
