The Monitoring of infrastructure, it’s importance and stakeholders involved were amongst topics of presentation that animated the Training Workshop for the staff of the Directorate General of the infrastructure works launched this Wednesday, 14th Mai 2025 at the National Advanced School of Public Works.
Within the context of the Ministry of Public Works, the monitoring of infrastructure is carried out despite legal, budgetary and political stakes. This involves a number of actors, including the project owner, the project manager, the control firm, contractors, financial institutions and the general public. It is important to note that the monitoring of an infrastructure project from conception to delivery are amongst important element as this permit to ensure that public resources are properly managed, works are safe and that people’s needs are met. At the center of works done on the field, the monitoring engineer plays the role of giving the best quality of execution by making sure all expectations of the ministry such as achieving efficiency on the basis of tangible and measurable results are being implemented. This also extends to ensuring that deadlines, budgets, quality and regulatory standards are met. Globally, the monitoring of infrastructure projects is a major challenge in the success of public policies and the satisfaction of collective needs. In the specific context of the Ministry of Public Works, it appears to be a technical, administrative and strategic process, essential for ensuring the compliance, performance and sustainability of the structures constructed.
The large number of stakeholders involved and the complexity of the procedures require rigorous coordination, constant reporting and the use of appropriate tools. To achieve lasting improvements in projects monitoring, it is important to build human capacities, modernise management tools, and establish a culture of collaboration and proactiveness.
