Councils and delegations from concerned ministries gathered together to brainstorm and bring out solutions to better road networks in the country and the Southwest in particular.
During deliberations, participants elaborated a list of ongoing projects and new projects to be programmed in the 2025 budget.
The workshop is organized by the Ministry of Public Works.on the occasion the Mayors were urged to take crucial steps towards prioritising and improving road infrastructure management, as part of the ongoing decentralsation process.
The working session to prioritise projects under council management for the preparation of the 2025 budget, recordrf the presence of Mayors from the different municipalities, regional and divisional delegates of the south west region and workers from the Ministry of Public Works, MINEPAT, and MINDDEVEL.
Based on the prioritisation criteria presented during the two-day workshop, projects identified by various councils, were classified in the scale of importance.Notably the completion of ongoing projects, possible traffic disruption points, opening up of production basins, and inter municipality projects.
In same vein more than150 projects were identified, including ongoing projects and bridges.It was made public that
technical files are available for more than 30 newly proposed projects.
Some of the listed projects are as follows; Botanic Gardens council road to GHS Limbe of 0.55km; maintenance of communal road from Dubai center road to Wotutu road of 0.8km; Mokindi-Limbe I council of 1.3km; Bodende-Mokundange-Limbola-Batoke of 8.5km; Idenau-Scipio-Rogeflorse-Sanje road of 7.5km; tarring of road from Bocom mile 16 to small Soppo with a branch from Bulu junction of 9.837km; 2x2 lane from Bokwaongi to Bonjongo of 10.875km; tarring with surface dressing on the second road to Bangem-Mboussum-Nyankikock-Bangem of 8km; rehabilitation of the communal road Ebomemin-Muandong-Limit Litoral of 10km; opening of road from Muabi-Muanengel of 14km; rehabilitation of Bakole-Nyandong road of 9.8km; road Bambele-Bangone of 13.5km; road Muangwekan-Odute-Nzobi-Nlog-Esume-Njunyue of 23.5km; road Ndebaya-Babong of 25km; rehabilitation and construction of Mamfe-Eshobi-Eyang-Ntui of 15km; the road Ebeagwa-Mbanga-Pongo-Besali of 38km and the opening of Mamfe-Akwaya town road of 98km.
Over 30 ongoing road projects were identified and its awaiting completion, the physical progress of some projects stands at 0%. It should be noted that all these projects are financed by the PIB (Public Investment Budget) of MINTP and the Road Fund .All is fine through the transfer of resources to the Councils by the ministry of public works.
